July Book Sale raised $13,500

The Friends of Granby Public Library (FOGPL) wrapped up another successful book sale at the end of July—the sale generated over $13,500! All proceeds support the Granby Public Library with books, magazines, DVDs, museum passes and special programs for all patrons.

Dialogues on Race offered this fall

The Faith Subcommittee of Granby Racial Reconciliation will offer Dialogues on Race on seven consecutive Tuesdays from Sept. 27 to Nov. 8, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Public Works

Trash holiday: Monday, Sept. 5, is a holiday for Paine’s Inc. All trash/recycling pickups will be delayed by one day the week after the Labor Day holiday.

Chamber of Commerce fall events

As separate organizations, the Granby and Simsbury Chambers of Commerce ran many wonderful events, but together they will be even more impactful.

Artisan Craft Fair

The Friends of the Southwick Public Library, a 501(c)(3) organization, are sponsoring an Arts and Craft Fair on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Southwick Town Hall, 454 College Highway.

Crafters Wanted

The Suffield Fire Department Auxiliary will host the return of its Annual Harvest Crafts Fair on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center Firehouse, 73 Mountain Road (Rt. 168), Suffield.

Hearth Cooking Programs

If you want to learn to cook delicious food the way people did in colonial times, now’s your chance. Join accomplished open-hearth cooking expert Becky Hendricks for an immersive experience cooking in an authentic colonial-era kitchen at Windsor Historical Society’s historic Strong-Howard House.

The Senior Skinny

MS Support Group

The Granby Multiple Sclerosis Support Group normally meets at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

SBHS Cancellations

Following the social distancing guidelines of the Governor’s office to prevent the spread of coronavirus and limit groups to five or fewer, the Salmon Brook Historical Society has cancelled the following events: the May 16 Spring Flea Market, the June 6 Car and Tractor Show and the June 20 Ice Cream Social.

Volunteers Needed

Mary’s Kitty Korner, Granby’s no-kill cat shelter, is looking for volunteers to help care for its kitties until they find their fur-ever homes.
