Members of Hartford and Litchfield Counties’ 53 Lions Clubs International clubs, which are the world’s largest service organization, recently elected West Granby resident Dave Roberts to be the next Second Vice District Governor. This begins a three-year transition that puts Roberts on the path to become the Council Chair of all State of Connecticut Lions in July 2023.

In addition to being extremely active in Lions at the state level, Roberts serves as president of the local Barkhamsted Lions Club, board member of both the Lions Low Vision Center and Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation, committee member of United Nations Association, president of the Barkhamsted Senior Center, and Town of Granby Conservation Commissioner. He has received the Connecticut Lions’ two highest recognitions: Knight of the Blind and Ambassador of Sight.

“My family has lived in Connecticut since 1629 and for over 13 generations we have called this area home,” said Roberts. “Since I retired in 2017, my goal has been to give back to our local community to make life better not only for my spouse and six kids, but for all who call this area home.” Roberts also serves as a Guiding Lion for West Hartford Lumbini Lions Club and the Northwestern Connecticut Cyber Lions Club and is a co-advisor of the Northwest Connecticut Cyber Leo club of area youth who aspire to perform community service. This past March, Roberts was awarded the Lions Clubs International Presidential Leadership Medal for his exemplary service.

Since 1917, Lions Clubs International has provided inspiring leadership and service opportunities and today has over 1.4 million men and women members worldwide.
