About Us

Formed in 1970, Citizens for a Better Granby—CBG for short—is a community-based, not-for-profit organization whose goal is to inform and educate Granby residents on issues affecting the town of Granby, Connecticut. Its monthly newspaper, the Granby Drummer, provides an independent platform to encourage participation in the civic, social, economic and cultural life of Granby.
Policy making  is carried out by a  board of directors and four officers.

Since 1997 CBG has donated more than $100,000 to Granby organizations and activities to benefit the community’s well-being.  These organizations and activities include the Civil War monument restoration, Ecology Center at Granby Memorial Middle School, Granby Memorial High School scholarships and equipment, Granby Education Foundation, Granby Public and Cossitt libraries. Granby Senior Center defibrillator equipment,  Holcomb Farm, Parks and Recreation concerts, Salmon Brook Historical Society and the Salmon Brook Park playground project.

The Granby Drummer is an all-volunteer non-profit newspaper published monthly except for January and August.

The Drummer welcomes new writers, editors, reporters, photographers and proofreaders. In addition, volunteers are needed to format and layout articles and advertisements and upload articles to the web. No experience needed; training is provided. Enthusiasm a must!
