PFLAG Granby celebrates Pride Month with film series

PFLAG Granby is pleased to announce a series of film screenings to celebrate Pride Month. On June 7 at 4 p.m., the chapter will host a screening of Tomorrow’s Too Late, about British artist Dylan Holloway, formerly known as Lots Holloway, who stepped away from the spotlight during the 2020 lockdown to begin his gender transition. Once a rising star on the UK’s X-factor, Holloway now faced a profound personal and professional crossroads as hormone therapy could irreversibly change the voice that defined his career.

Browse & Borrow — June 2026

There’s always something happening at the Granby Public Library. With programs ranging from storytimes and teen activities to author talks, hands-on workshops and special events, the library provides welcoming opportunities for the community to learn, connect and be inspired. Registration is required for library programs.

Granby Libraries’ book sale donations start late June

This year, Friends of the Granby Public Libraries (FOGPL) 43rd annual Used Book Sale will be held at Holcomb Farm, 113 Simsbury Road, West Granby. Preview Night is on Friday, July 24, 5–8 p.m. with a $10 entrance fee. The regular sale is on Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Last chance sale is on Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m.–2:30 p.m. with $10 per bag or donation.

Two Granby Memorial High School members of the class of 2022 graduated from Westfield State University on May 15.

Budget Public Hearing held April 6

A large number of residents attended the annual Budget Public Hearing on April 6 in the high school auditorium. After an introduction and explanation of the process by Board of Finance Chair Mike Guarco, First Selectman Mark Fiorentino and then-Board of Education Chair Monica Logan presented the municipal and education budgets, narrating slide presentations.

Ray’s open letter to Granby

To everyone in Granby, especially those I have had the pleasure to deliver to, it is with bittersweet emotions that I am announcing my retirement from UPS. I started driving for the company in 1988 and have been delivering in Granby for the past 24 years.

Where tradition meets the trail: Granby’s 2026 Road Race

Spring will once again bring scores of sneakers hitting the pavement and cheers echoing down Salmon Brook Street as runners from near and far gather for the 2026 Granby Road Race on Saturday, May 2. The event, one of Connecticut’s oldest and most treasured road races, has become a cherished Granby tradition that celebrates fitness, fellowship and community pride.

Support the schools’ fine arts programs

I want to give a shout out to the GMHS cast and crew for their fabulous production of The Little Mermaid. They packed the GMHS auditorium on March 12, 13, 14 and 15. What talent we have in Granby! This musical highlighted our talented singers, dancers and set crew students and volunteers. As Director Erin Bakken stated, “This production has truly been a labor of love.”

Stretching budget to support every student

Each spring, the development of the school district budget brings an important conversation to our community. As superintendent, I understand that our schools represent both one of Granby’s greatest strengths and one of the largest investments our taxpayers make each year. Our responsibility is clear: to provide the best possible opportunities for our students while being thoughtful stewards of public resources.

2026 GAA Annual Scholarship

Graduating high school seniors who are planning to pursue further education in the visual arts are invited to apply for the 2026 Granby Artist Association Annual Scholarship. The scholarship is a cash award of $1,000 given to a graduating senior with advanced artistic skills to be used for upcoming college expenses.
