Sponsor an American Flag

About 15 years ago, the Granby Lions Club decided to honor the town’s veterans and/or citizens from Memorial Day through Labor Day, just as neighboring towns were doing. To that end, the Lions sponsored the purchase of American Flags for display throughout Granby center.

Art award presented

Susan Patricelli Regan, president of the Sylvia Davis Fine Arts Scholarship Foundation, virtually presented its award in the Connecticut Regional Scholastic Art Awards ceremony on Feb. 12.

Granby Celebrates Juneteenth, Saturday June 18

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 18. Granby Racial Reconciliation will host the first Granby Celebrates Juneteenth festival at Salmon Brook Park—an arts festival from 3 to 8:30 p.m., celebrating Granby’s growing diversity.

We’ve hunkered down while Winter Storm Bobby breezed through, and we’ve gone from icy to muddy—but it seems like spring is not far off. It’s a perfect time for the Granby Community Fund to acknowledge with gratitude the wonderful generosity of our townspeople.

GLT hosts Connecticut Trails Day hike

The Granby Land Trust hosted a hike at its Godard Preserve on Connecticut Trails Day (June 2), and in a spring filled with cool temperatures and rainy days, the group got lucky and was blessed with a beautiful morning.

When I see the police officer directing traffic at Meadow View Farms in Southwick, I’m always amazed that so many people, like me, love flowers!

Independence Day: Thursday, July 4, is a holiday for Paine’s. All Thursday and Friday trash and recycling pickups will be delayed by one day.

CT Senator John Kissel legislative update

Connecticut is at a crossroads economically.  The regular session for the budget is over but there are looming question marks on tolls and bonding which will be debated in a special session after July 1. The budget must be balanced but the Governor is being challenged by the unions involving a $428 million dollar anticipated consession.

Foxfield FARM touts benefits of equine therapy

Foxfield For a Recovery Mission (F.A.R.M.) participated in a Salve Regina masters thesis study to prove the value of equine programs. Victoria Becott, a senior at the Newport, R.I. university chose the therapy as part of her graduate studies in the clinical mental health counseling program.
