At the Lincoln Dinner held recently in Windsor Locks, B. Scott Kuhnly was honored as Granby’s Republican of the Year. Kuhnly was recognized for all his service to Granby over the past 29 years in elected, appointed and volunteer positions.

His service has included the Board of Assessment Appeals (2003-2006), the Board of Finance (2007-2009), the Board of Selectmen (2009-2021), and First Selectmen (2013-2021).

Among the projects completed during Kuhnly’s BOS tenure are improvements in Recreation and Leisure Services; the construction of the Holcomb Farm North Barn Pavilion and the Park House at Salmon Brook Park, and the streetscape project that included sidewalks and lights on Salmon Brook Street. Known for hosting a monthly Koffee with Kuhnly, he established a time for town residents to discuss issues of concern.

Kuhnly’s involvement in the community also included civic organizations—coaching Granby Little League, baseball, soccer, and softball; Granby 4-H activities and fairs; serving as emcee for the Granby Education Foundation’s Gran-Bee for several years; volunteering at school activities, Booster Club and Parents for a Safe Graduations; and not to forget Santa for the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services and Lost Acres Fire Department.

Congratulations Scott Kuhnly and a big thank you for your dedication to the Town of Granby in all areas of your service.
