At Wells Road Intermediate School, we are always talking about being kind and helping people when they need it, so it’s good to see the teachers leading by example. That is exactly what teachers Rob Faber and Sarah Warner did in response to the Ofsuryk family’s loss.

The Farmington Valley Health District (FVHD) is the local health department that serves the town of Granby. It has recently released a community health assessment which uses data from more than 20 different sources to describe the health status of the population of Farmington Valley.

After COVID closure for a year, the volunteers at Salmon Brook Historical Society are back at work. The research library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon or by appointment by calling 860-653-9713.
The Granby Multiple Sclerosis Support Group will resume when the Granby Senior Center reopens. Meetings are at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

The Gardeners of Simsbury will not hold its annual plant sale at Boy Scout Hall, but you can still purchase beautiful plants just before Mother’s Day!
If you drive by the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center almost anytime this summer, you’ll see why we say that the center is more than a stage. You may see one of the many private events in progress, such as musical rehearsals, athletic events, dance recitals, awards ceremonies and graduations.
All patrons over the age of 2 are expected to wear masks and sanitize their hands as they enter the building. All items being returned to the library should be put into the outdoor book drops prior to entering the building.
The Granby Land Trust has long understood the consequences that mowing inflicts on the organisms that inhabit the fields on its properties, and has taken action to ensure the least detrimental effects possible. For example, around eight years ago, mowing was banned on the agricultural field at the Nuckols Preserve to protect the turtles and snakes.

The Friends of Granby Public Library (FOGPL) will accept donations for its annual book sale from June 14 through July 17. Please start setting aside donations for this big annual event that will be held Sept. 24–26 at Holcomb Farm.

Drive by the American Legion Post 182 on North Granby Road and you might notice a bus parked in the back, with Marquis of Granby lettered on its sides. It is the much-cherished transport of the local all-youth Ancient Fyfe & Drum Corps.
American Legion Post #182 is presenting a history of Granby from the eyes of the Legion, which has been an integral part of the community for many years. As we look back, we are going to take our inspiration from the walls of Post #182 on which hang many articles, pictures and plaques from years past.
