Gran-Bee another huge success

On April 28, 23 teams gathered at Granby Memorial High School to participate in the 18th annual Gran-Bee, a fund raiser for the Granby Education Foundation which provides innovative education programs throughout Granby.

Community walk reimagines Granby’s town center

Thirty-five Granby citizens, from children to seniors, walked from Oakridge Drive to Mapleview Farm on April 16 as part of a community walk organized by Meg Jabaily, a master’s degree candidate at Boston Architectural College’s Design for Human Health program.

Women’s Breakfast

The next Women’s Breakfast will be Wednesday, Nov. 3, 8:30 a.m. at Granby Senior Center. Holcomb Farm’s Past and Present will be presented by Joseph O’Grady, Farm Manager. To register call 860-844-5352. Cost $4.

4-H Bottle/Can Drives

Please consider donating your bottles/cans to the Granby 4-H Robotics program. Each of the three 4-H robotics teams made it to the 2021 World Championship and each received a World Championship Award.

Men’s Breakfast

The next Granby Men’s Breakfast Zoom meeting is Friday, Nov. 12. Don Rethke and the Granby Robotics Team will present a live demonstration.

Lions Selling Birdseed

The Granby Lions is conducting its 26th Annual Birdseed Sale. Orders may be placed up to Nov. 6, for pickup or delivery on Nov. 13.

Cossitt Tradition: Holiday Gift Book Tree

Please help Cossitt’s Friends continue our holiday tradition of providing children’s books to include in Granby’s Department of Social Services annual Holiday Gift packages for families.    

Cottage Craft Fair

The 38th Annual Christmas Cottage Craft Fair will be held in a new location this year; St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 224 Lovely Street in Avon. The fair runs on Thursday, Nov. 4 and Friday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Polish Kosciusko Squadron Exhibit

The New England Air Museum is honored to premier a new exhibit featuring the Polish Kosciusko Squadron 303 pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain and arguably changed history. Winston Churchill called it “one of the decisive battles of the war” and, according to many historians, the Battle of Britain would have been lost if not for the Polish airmen.

Emerys receive Land Trust award

The Granby Celebrates raffle was a great event, and the Granby Chamber of Commerce thanks everyone who participated. More than half of this year’s winners have never won a raffle before—how exciting!

Friends of Holcomb Farm

While the wet summer has not been great for vegetable growing, it has been super for fruit, and the bounty at the Thrall Family Homestead Farm in neighboring Windsor was overflowing. What to do? Friend and neighbor Sarah Thrall called and said, “Come on over and pick what you can” to add to the food we provide to our Fresh Access partners.

Regan campaigns across state

Granby resident Susan Patricelli Regan announced her bid for governor earlier this year and has campaigned across Connecticut in the months since. In the photo above, Regan speaks to the Metacon Gun Club in Simsbury on Sept. 21.
