Riding around our town is quite an experience. During a days’ journey, one observes all sorts of things. Lots of people, events,and goings on, and the humanity and complexity of our simple hamlet continues to amaze and endear it to me.

At the public session of the Jan. 24 joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z), several residents stepped forward to address their concerns.
I want to thank the entire Granby community for supporting us this year as we celebrate our 100th day of school; over half the school year is complete. Students in the Granby Public Schools continue to excel and the staff continues to work tirelessly to assist our students achieve their highest academic potential and social/emotional development.

At the Sept. 19, 2022, joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the Planning and Zoning Commission, it was decided to develop a plan to study long-term growth of the town center, an important consideration in Granby’s strategic plan going forward. This became known as the Center Study, and P&Z was asked to create a process for the scope of a study.

In 2017, Connecticut Public Act 17-170 called upon each town and municipality to develop an affordable housing plan. The draft of the Affordable Housing Plan will be available for review and posted on the town’s website by March 10.
One cold winter morning, Dr. David Nochimson struck up a conversation with Gordon Daniels, a driver for Paine’s recycling and rubbish removal. After learning of Daniel’s history, he contacted the Drummer because he felt this man deserved recognition, noting, “Everyone has a niche and is important.”

Faith Ringgold: Quilts, Paintings, and Politics: Tuesday, March 1, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Faith Ringgold is celebrated for an artistic career exploring race in the American experience. Art educator Jane Oneail covers the breadth of her creative output, including painting, sculpture, performance art and her beloved story quilts.
If you enjoy hiking in the Granby Land Trust’s preserves, you have probably noticed on the kiosks at the entrances to the properties that there is information on how you can download a map of the trails therein. The man behind this technology, who also happens to have made the kiosks, is Steve Perry.
