Fishing Rules of Etiquette

You might think my fishing buddies and I have a certain level of sophistication and refinement. At a minimum, you’re thinking, enough to establish rules of etiquette that govern our behavior when we are out on the boat together.

Making streets safer for non-drivers

Bicyclists, walkers and runners all have a right to use Granby’s roads, and drivers are legally and morally obliged to exercise care. But accidents and near misses still occur and each side blames the other.

Food safety training returns

On Saturday, Nov. 13, the First Congregational Church of Granby will host a food safety training class and certification exam. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is recognized nationally and meets food service licensing requirements for the State. 

FV Chorale returns to live rehearsals

The Farmington Valley Chorale announces its return to “safe and sound” in-person rehearsals starting Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Now in its 51st year, the chorale has met virtually since the start of the pandemic.

Feeling woozy? Take note and take action

Woozy is a tricky word. We use it to describe many symptoms, such as light-headedness, weakness, confusion, instability, maybe even nausea, and feeling like a faint will occur.

Carol Laun (1934 – 2021)

Carol Anne Marquardt Laun—world traveler, avid cyclist, talented writer, much-respected historian of Granby, and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother—passed away on June 20, 2021, at the age of 87. She faced the end of her journey, after a recurrence of ovarian cancer, with the same courage, grace and organizational skill that she brought to everything else in her life.
