Food safety training returns

On Saturday, Nov. 13, the First Congregational Church of Granby will host a food safety training class and certification exam. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is recognized nationally and meets food service licensing requirements for the State.

The class has been arranged through the Connecticut Restaurant Association. Instruction will be provided by Natalie Chavoya, who enthusiastically led 19 community members through the course material and exam this past June. Chavoya says, “We all know food safety is essential for restaurants, but it is just as important for community events.”

If you are affiliated with an organization that would like to host food-based events, or if you are a budding food entrepreneur thinking about starting a business, then this certification is an important step. Cost of the class and exam is $140. Class size is limited and preregistration is required.
