Granby Manufacturing Co. on Hartford Ave. was organized in 1873. It later housed a store, post office and ice cream parlor, and was called the Cowles Block. Beman Hardware was in this building until 1972. When the new store was built behind the store, the old building was razed.

Granby Memorial Athletics wrapped up an incredible fall season highlighted by two NCCC Conference Championships, 13 All-Conference athletes, and a CIAC State Finals appearance.
As we enter December and the holiday season, a lot is going on at Town Hall. For instance, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the annual Tree Lighting to bring in the season will be held outside of the library at 4:30 p.m.
On Nov. 17, Granby’s newly elected and re-elected town officials were sworn in.
On Nov. 8, a ribbon cutting was held at Stony Hill Village with members of the Granby Greater Together Community Fund (GGTCF) and the Granby Homes for Senior Citizens, Inc. (GHSC) Board celebrating the installation of an emergency generator to power the community room in the village in the event of a power outage.
The Early Voting Staff were especially festive on Halloween preparing for one of the busiest mornings of Early Voting at Granby Town Hall, with 67 voters in two hours.
The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO).
The focus of the Social Services Department is to coordinate existing federal, state, regional and local services, to increase community awareness of these services and to develop new programs to meet the needs of Granby residents.

Alexander Anisimov will open his Granby studio at 2 Park Place Gallery for an exhibition from July 1 through Aug. 5. Among the works the public can enjoy is this photograph of a family of black bears, titled Midday visitors.

Building close relationships in adulthood can be challenging. Many social situations call for polite small talk, not heart-to-heart conversations, making it difficult to really connect deeply with people.
Since 1983, the Friends of Granby Public Libraries (FOGPL) has held its very popular Used Book Sale. This year it will be held on July 25, 26, and 27 at Holcomb Farm.

Farmington Valley residents have a great, free resource for durable medical equipment (DME) in the Granby DME Closet. Residents of the Farmington Valley can borrow wheelchairs, walkers, commodes and more, free of charge.
Granby Memorial High School athletes had an amazing year, both on and off the field. Led by our incredible student-athletes and a supportive community, GMHS Bears have continued to be strong contenders across all CIAC state athletic divisions.
Another school year has come to an end. As we move forward into the summer months, I want to express my gratitude to our educational staff and community for making Granby a wonderful place to live and raise kids.
There were 13 student-athletes from Granby Memorial High School who received All-Conference and/or All-State recognition for their outstanding performances during the 2025 spring season.
Granby students Marcus Ivanynyuk and Emma Pagliaro recently participated in Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) training at Springfield College. Seventy-five students throughout Northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts attended.
Quaren Joyce (left) received $1,000 from the Sylvia Davis Patricelli Foundation, an annual presentation to a student in the visual arts department at CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.
The Simsbury-Granby Rotary Club recently awarded $24,000 in college and vocational school scholarships to deserving Granby and Simsbury high school graduates.
The Granby Lions awarded three scholarships at the June 3 Granby Memorial High School Senior Awards Night.
The Granby Memorial High School dramatic arts program closed out its 2024–25 season with a standing ovation, earning an impressive 15 nominations and two wins at the prestigious Connecticut Halo Awards.
