Granby girls travel soccer wins tournament

Congratulations to the Granby Rovers U15 Girls team for winning its division at the Capitol Cup Tournament in Concord, N.H. on Oct. 8-9. This was the team’s first tournament out of state since 2019, and everyone was excited to play against new teams and have some fun.

Black bears are increasing in numbers and being seen more frequently in Connecticut.

Bear attack

On April 26, our 78-pound family dog was viciously attacked by a bear that entered our yard over a 5-foot chain-link fence. This happened in broad daylight (11 a.m.).

It’s time to ban the intentional feeding of bears in Granby

I am writing in support of any ordinance that would allow the town to regulate the feeding of wildlife on private property. The town of Granby, as well as surrounding towns, continues to struggle with wildlife being habituated through the bear-feeding practices of private homeowners.

Horse Council’s Share The Road awareness event is June 19

To increase awareness of little-known motor vehicle laws, the Granby Horse Council is hosting a community event—Share the Road. On Saturday, June 19, (rain date June 20) join Horse Council members at Salmon Brook Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the 3rd Annual Share the Road event.

A Backwards Glance

In June 2003, Jim Hall (pictured above) was given much-deserved recognition for his service to American Legion Post 182 and for organizing Granby’s Memorial Day parade for 33 years. This year we thank Jim for his 51st Memorial Day parade and celebration in a year that desperately needs a drum-thumping, fife-playing outing on the Green.
