I am writing to offer my support to Monica Logan for election to the Granby Board of Education. Monica and her husband relocated to Granby with their two young sons in part because of the reputation of the Granby school system.
In the October issue of The Granby Drummer, Michael Guarco wrote with lucidity about the mill rates in Granby and the factors that influence them. One of the points made in this article was with regard to school expenditures.
The 37th Annual Used Book Sale held in September resulted in our most successful one yet with over $13,100 raised by the Friends of the Granby Public Library. Nothing like a nice sunny weekend to draw a crowd.
The town is once again spraying glyphosate (Roundup) in Salmon Brook Park and throughout the Town Hall complex. Glyphosate is a known carcinogen and in August 2017 the Board of Selectmen placed a moratorium on the use of glyphosate until a committee was established to investigate the herbicide and make a recommendation on its use.
In April 2018 the Herbicide Committee concluded that the town should ban its use by the town.
I’m a freelance writer and the mother of one small child. My husband provides much of the childcare, but he has a job as well, and often I find myself torn between the demands of work and the need to take my son out so he can play with other children.
In our Nov. 5 local election, I am voting for Jim Lofink, a Democrat who has been on the Board of Selectman for several years. I hope you do too.
I am writing to offer my support to Rosemarie Weber for re-election to the Granby Board of Education. Rosemarie and her husband, Dr. Chris Weber, moved to town in 2005.
What Connecticut Gold Coast town had a ’18—’19 mill rate of 11.369 and kept it flat for ’19—’20? It is also rated as #12 out of the 100 best towns to live in the U.S. and resident satisfaction has improved over the last three years in all departments. How did they achieve this?
Granby celebrated, for different reasons, the departure of a number of unique people and/or institutions who have enriched the town over recent years and who can be emulated but never replaced. Permit me to acknowledge them.
I am writing in support of Clark Farm’s application to the Planning and Zoning Commission to have a select number and type of events in their very nice looking white tent on the orchard property. The residents of Strawberry Field have issued several complaints.
