Granby Community Fund appreciates community support

The members of the Granby Community Fund Board of Directors would like to thank the community for its support of the 2018 Annual Community Campaign. The GCF, a 501(c)3 organization since 1960, meets monthly in preparation of a town-wide mailing to help support the many valuable programs and services offered to local citizens.

Rep. Simanski Volunteers for Read Aloud Day

State Representative Bill Simanski (R-62) participated in the 27th Annual Read Aloud Day. This annual event helps teachers promote childhood literacy and a lifelong love of reading by having volunteers from the community join classes in the morning to read a book for the class.

If you have been to any of the Granby Artist Association arts and crafts shows during the holiday season or enjoyed visiting the artists’ studios on Open Studio Day in the fall, you have probably noticed the exquisite glasswork done by Silver Street Glass. Pieces of all different sizes, textures and colors capture the eye: wall hangings, paperweights, jewelry, Christmas tree ornaments, vases, bowls, to name a few.

MeadowBrook resident celebrates 100 years

MeadowBrook of Granby staff and residents celebrated the 100th birthday of one of their very own residents Florence “Elsie Rowe”. Mrs. Rowe, born January 18, 1918, was showered with balloons and gifts as she celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family.

Toni Boucher (R): Exploratory candidate for governor

Toni Boucher has been a member of the Connecticut Senate from the 26th District since January 2009 following six terms in the Connecticut House of Representatives. Senator Boucher is currently in an exploratory campaign run for the 2018 Connecticut Gubernatorial race that is crowded with approximately twelve other candidates on each side of the isle plus one independent who has already chosen a running mate.
