Having driven by the empty town-owned field across the street from Maple View Farm for 24 years, Susan Ranstead often thought how beautiful it would be if this field were filled with flowers. This year, she decided to take action to see if it would be possible.

Solar Eclipse

The moon blocked part of the sun in a sunrise solar eclipse on June 10 in North Granby. The phenomenon appeared as a “ring of fire” to some observers in Canada and Northern Europe. On the East Coast of North America, it appeared more like a crescent moon—or a smile.

Granby women build Habitat homes

Rachael Manzer, NE 4-H Volunteer of the Year

Rachael Manzer was named as Connecticut’s 4-H Volunteer of the Year and most recently awarded the National 2021 Northeast Region 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award. Manzer is a volunteer with UConn’s Granby 4-H Club of Granby, and a UConn 4-H Alumni.
