Putting what we have to work

One of the oft-heard concerns throughout the budget process relates to the desire of many for the boards to work diligently and collaboratively to flatten out the rate of increase in the budget and, more importantly, the mill-rate change year to year. A key consideration in how the Granby Board of Finance looks at budgeting and the fiscal affairs of the town IS that stability in working towards a modest slope in the rate of increase in both.

Two new committees will move Granby forward

At the June 1 Board of Selectmen’s meeting, two important actions occurred that “will move the Town of Granby forward.” The first action was the appointment of six town residents—Christopher LaVigne, Mark Gottlieb, Peter Anderson, Anne Adamson, Michael Lengvarsky and William Pascucci—to the Public Building and Capital Project Committee.

Come to the Hoedown!

The hoedown has deep roots in farm country. The word hoedown originated in rural America, recalling the ritual end of harvest season when farm workers put down their farm tools to celebrate with a raucous community dance.

Julien Tessier opens second bakery location

Julien Tessier’s dream was to start an American bakery featuring scratch-made cinnamon rolls, muffins, donuts, cookies, biscuits and croissants. Tessier, a French-born and trained pastry chef, worked at high-end London restaurants and was employed as a private chef in New York City. In December 2025, he was named Pastry Chef of the Year by the Connecticut Restaurant association during its CRAZIES awards ceremony.
