If you live in Granby and read The Granby Drummer, then you surely recognize the name Bernadette Gentry. She’s the voice behind the thoughtful, sometimes whimsical but always pleasing poems published each month for her community to enjoy.
Recently, I experienced some major health issues, was hospitalized, and spent some time in rehab. In the nursing home I also had to use a wheelchair. There were so many other people using them that, after a while, I no longer noticed the chairs, just the people sitting in them.
On May 23, the Granby-Simsbury Chamber of Commerce gathered at the picturesque Holcomb Farm in Granby for its annual meeting and awards reception. This event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of its esteemed members and sponsors, whose unwavering support forms the foundation of our shared success.

I believe that gardening is a great first step towards conservation. My parents and grandparents gardened when I was young, and that, plus backyard bird feeders, helped me to learn to observe the natural world. I tell anyone interested in gardening to give it a try. Plant something, eat it, and fall in love with the land.
The seed order is in and the Summer CSA shares are almost sold out (some still available at holcombfarm.org/join-our-csa). Plans for a full “Season of Celebrations” for the 30th anniversary of the Friends of Holcomb Farm, are well underway.
As we see continued progress on the Granby Center intersection project, I thought it would be helpful to provide information about the project and what you can expect for the upcoming construction season.

What has happened so far, and next steps
Granby’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jordan Grossman has been appointed the new superintendent for the Canton Public Schools, and will begin there over the summer.
