GMHS senior registration drive

The registrars were pleased by student participation in the high school spring registration drive at Granby Memorial High School on April 4. Registrars received 89 new registrations—79 from in-town and 10 from out-of-town students. Twenty-three students chose to register as Republicans, 25 students as Democrats, one student as an Independent and the remaining 40 students chose to be unaffiliated with any party.

Riding rings receive new fencing

The fences for the riding rings at Holcomb Farm and Salmon Brook Park were replaced this winter, funded by a grant and accomplished through the efforts of many in the community. In the spring of 2017, the Granby Horse Council was notified by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving that it was eligible to apply for funding from the Pomeroy-Brace Fund for a community project in Granby.

On a motion by Christine Chinni, seconded by Eric Myers, the commission voted to add the consideration of a recommendation to the Board of Selectmen to accept the extension of Mill Pond Drive to the agenda. Director of Community Development Fran Armentano reviewed the original approval of the Greenway Village development that included the extension of Mill Pond Drive.

Thanks for supporting the Marquis of Granby

Marquis of Granby wants to thank everyone who contributed to its fundraiser held at the Thomas Hooker Brewery on March 9. The event was a huge success, with 100 percent of proceeds going to help members of the corps get to Scotland this August.
