Do you oppose border tolls? “Border tolls would raise a substantial amount of money for this state.” That’s what the co-chair of the state legislature’s Transportation Committee said recently. I am delighted that the Drummer December 2014 issue included the article in remembrance of Fred Wilhelm, Sr., written by Trish Percival and Rick Orluk. The article noted that the family planted a gingko tree, in memory of Fred. We thank John O’Brien, O’Brien Nurserymen, for finding and procuring this sapling for us and for helping the family plant it properly. George Tuffin I’m certain that many among us will eulogize George Tuffin. I’m one of them but am interested in emphasizing one not so evident thing that he did for Granby. Shortly after moving to Granby in 1960, George was elected by his neighbors to be Granby’s first unpaid first selectman under the town’s new charter. Cossitt support The Friends of Cossitt Library wish to thank the thoughtful townspeople who donated to the Cossitt Book Gift Tree Project this past December. Fifty-eight seniors enjoyed receiving holiday gifts of books at the Granby Senior Center lunch, and 28 children from 9 months to 17 years received gift books through Granby Social Services.
