After reading the September Letters to the Editor, I felt that I had to reply. My husband and I have been residents of the Granby community for 55 years.
The story about the Salmon Brook Monster by Mark Fiorentino in the September Drummer brought back some interesting memories.
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden released a $2 trillion climate plan, that won praise from the previously-critical Sunrise Movement. Unfortunately, so far as I’m aware, the plan does not include funding for cultured-meat research.
Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy should support federal funding for cultured-meat research.
This November’s election comes at an intersection of unique and unprecedented events that give us the opportunity to not only vote our values but also our conscience and show who we truly are.

We are at a crucial revolutionary moment in history following the murders of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, among countless others. It is a rare and pivotal moment that presents an opportunity for sweeping and indelible transformation across our town and the nation to finally and boldly acknowledge that Black Lives Matter.
As great as Granby is, together, we can make it better. Together, we can help to end racism and injustice.
