The Drummer and the town of Granby are saddened to learn that Elaine Jones passed away on March 6, 2020, after a long illness. Elaine made Granby her home for 57 years with Jim, her husband of 53 years.
Alcoholism affects as many as one in four people who live in our community. Al-Anon is a free program for friends and families of alcoholics who suffer from the impact of a loved one’s drinking.
For many years Granby residents travelled outside of town to find places to dine, but since the establishment of several new restaurants in the last few years this has changed significantly.
In 5th grade we had to learn each state’s capital and official nickname. We didn’t know that beyond Juneau, Alaska, (The Last Frontier) and Baton Rouge, Louisiana (the Pelican State), there existed all manner of state symbols and icons.
Granby Public Library and Salmon Brook Historical Society are teaming up to help future generations understand this time in our history.
West Granby resident Jillian Juarez is the Connecticut State Coordinator for a group of volunteers who provide delivery service for at-risk individuals.
