Fiddler on the Roof at GMHS March 16-18

Granby High School Performing Arts is excited to announce the spring musical, Fiddler On The Roof, in cooperation with Music Theater International. Fiddler On The Roof tells the life-affirming story of Tevye, a poor milkman whose love, pride and faith help him face the oppression of turn-of-the century czarist Russia.

Support Marquis and enjoy an evening out

Known for its performances in parades locally as well as across the northeast, this August the Marquis will embark on an international trip to Scotland. This experience will allow the members of the corps to continue to learn about music, history and culture while sharing their award-winning talents internationally from multiple opportunities to jam with Scottish musical reenactment groups, to having the honor of performing at the International Fringe Festival while in Edinburgh.  They will learn about Scottish culture, including musical traditions, historical foundations, and modern lifestyle as well as perform with musicians from around the world.

PTO Corner

This month students recognized their 100th day of school with various classroom projects and celebrations. Reaching this mark means that they are more than halfway through the 2017-18 school year.

Stop & Shop loves its furry friends

Local rescue organizations were the recipients of a pet food drive at Granby’s Stop & Shop. On top, Angel Cruz, Stop & Shop store manager, shakes hands with Lisa Schmitt, owner of Mary’s Kitty Corner in Granby, one of the recipients.

A thank you to seniors from seniors

Seniors at Granby Memorial High School were pleasantly surprised on Valentine’s Day, when members of the Granby Senior Center walked into class pushing a cart full of goodies. Each senior received a bag of homemade cookies, chocolates and a note wishing them a Happy Valentine’s Day.

McLean Seminar

McLean’s Post-Acute and Outpatient Rehabilitation Services partners with Hartford HealthCare Bone and Joint Institute to offer a series of free, educational seminars, open to the community. Anxiety and Adjustment Difficulties—How to Help Manage and Reduce the Symptoms, will be presented on Thursday, March 8, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Peter Lucchio, Psy.D, will lead the seminar; attendees will learn to identify the experience of anxiety and when it becomes problematic, the triggers for difficulty adjusting to stressors and tools to cope with stress and/or anxiety.

Pedals for Progress – keep the wheels in motion

Do you have a few hours this spring to spread the word about the Pedals for Progress and Sewing Peace used bicycle and sewing machine collection? For 16 years, local volunteers have worked with Pedals for Progress to host successful collections that have touched the lives of more than 1,600 families in the developing world. Over the last 27 years, Pedals for Progress, a New Jersey based 501c3, has received, processed and donated over 153,000 bicycles and 4,000 used sewing machines to partner charities in 38 developing world countries.
