The Granby Library Association, or GLA, is a small organization that has been working to benefit the Granby community since 1869. You may never have heard of it, but it’s likely you have seen and appreciated some of the projects it has supported.

Fall flea market is Oct. 13

The Salmon Brook Historical Society’s annual Fall Flea Market will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—rain or shine. There will be 40 to 50 vendors showing and selling their wares.

Bruce Porter Music Series begins Nov. 4

The Bruce Porter Memorial Music Series for 2018-2019 will open on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. with pianist Benita Rose and saxophonist Tony Gibbs presenting classical music played on an instrument customarily associated with jazz.

Lost Acres Vineyard to host author Wally Lamb

Wally Lamb is the author of six New York Times best-selling novels and  a volunteer at Connecticut’s York Correctional Institution. He will be hosted by Lost Acres Vineyard for a fund raiser to support CASA’s Ranchero Pandillero, an innovative program in Mexico to reduce gang violence.

Lyme Disease: ticks active in the fall

Even though cooler weather is here, the activity of ticks and the possibility of Lyme Disease remains. Raking leaves and fall yard clean ups present opportunities for you to come in contact with ticks.
