McLean Hospice will hold a training course this fall for people interested in becoming hospice volunteers.
Granby’s Fire Marshal’s Office has developed a free smoke alarm testing and replacement program. With a quick call or email, they will come out and check your detectors free of charge. They offer replacement of battery-operated alarms and batteries free of charge for residential

Congratulations to the GMHS Dramatic Arts Program students who were nominated for an impressive 16 Halo Awards for their productions during the 2023-24 school year—and they won two!
The Tobacco Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union (TVTFCU) is pleased to announce the recipient of its 2024 Scholarship Award. Congratulations to Thomas Kennedy of Granby Memorial High School, who received an award of $1,000. After graduation Thomas will continue his education in heavy construction equipment technology.
Two-year student liaison to the Granby Board of Selectmen, Chas Orluk was honored at the June 3 meeting.
On the evening of June 6, Susan Patricelli Regan awarded the annual Sylvia Davis Patricelli Fine Arts Scholarship of $1,000 to Anna Wilcox.
Democratic and Republican voters in Granby voted in their party’s primaries on Aug. 9.
At its Aug. 15 meeting, the Granby Board of Selectmen approved the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for ventilation improvements at Wells Road School and ventilation and air conditioning at Granby Memorial High School.

Every state in America should follow the lead of California that recently allocated $5 million to support research and development of plant-based and cultivated meats.
With the sale moved from September to July due to scheduling needs, there were many changes that had to occur to allow us to have a successful sale.

When SPC Ricky Emmons lost his life in the Afghanistan conflict, friends donated a bench in his honor that was installed on the Granby town green. With the recent road widing project, the bench was moved to a safer spot in front of Grass Roots Ice Cream. Never forget.
The Granby Lions Club awarded scholarships to three Granby Memorial High School seniors. Granby Lions scholarships are based upon financial need, academic achievement, school and extracurricular activities, community service, recommendation letters and personal essays.
The Granby Board of Selectmen held two Open House sessions on June 13.
Chuck Taczanowsky of East Granby made a generous donation to Granby Racial Reconciliation (GRR) for its first Juneteenth Celebration.

On May 25, GMHS student Natalie Scanlon was the #1 singles winner of the North Central Connecticut Conference tournament, and was named All Conference.
Claire Newhall, of East Granby, graduated in May with a B.A. honors in fine arts from Saint Anselm College.
On or about Nov. 1, 2022, the special services department of the Granby Public Schools will destroy all special education and related records of students who are no longer enrolled in the school system for a period of seven years or greater.
On August 30, the doors to one of the best school districts in Connecticut opened for the 2022-23 school year. We welcomed our returning families and those new to our district to what promises to be a great school year for Granby Public Schools.
