Affordable Housing

Appearing on the first page of the March 2022 edition of the Drummer was an article entitled: Granby answers state call for Affordable Housing Plans. The name(s) of the author(s) are missing.

Concern over Kearns property

I am writing with concern that the Town of Granby is considering selling the former Kearns School property. With all the recent town real estate approvals for residential housing and apartments, it seems that town officials haven’t given enough thought and foresight to consider the additional families who will be moving to Granby.

Cultivated meat research

A significant portion of the agricultural-innovation funding announced at COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, should be directed toward cultivated-meat development. For those who aren’t familiar with the term, cultivated meat is grown from cells, without slaughter.

Support for Rome

I ask the voters in Granby to support Kelly Rome in the upcoming election as she seeks a seat on the Board of Selectmen. A Granby native who knows and understands the town well, she has both solid work experience and a proven track record on the Board of Finance that will serve Granby well in the capacity as a selectman.

Support for Thrall

Sarah Thrall quietly and unassumingly gives back to support Granby, Quick-witted and smart, Sarah is the real deal. She is an active contributor with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Support for Tsaptsinos

I will be voting for James Tsaptsinos for the Board of Finance. I have known James and his family for several years. He has a strong sense of community and a solid background in finance.

Thanks for Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Granby Public Library held its 38th Used Book Sale in September after a two year wait due to COVID restrictions last year. It was another successful sale and a welcome return of our patrons who look forward to this annual event.

Fund research for cultivated meat

I was thrilled to learn the U.S. Department of Agriculture is giving $10 million over five years to Tufts University to establish a National Institute for Cellular Agriculture. The institute will conduct open-access research into cultivated meat.
