Hazardous Waste: a household hazardous waste collection will be held Saturday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Simsbury DPW facility, 66 Town Forest Road, Simsbury.

Trash Holiday: Monday, May 30, Memorial Day is a holiday for Paine’s. All trash and recycling pickups will be delayed by one day the week after the holiday.
Senator Chris Murphy supports increased federal funding for cultivated-meat research, according to a letter he wrote to his constituent, Jon Hochschartner of Granby. Hochschartner has encouraged Murphy to take such a stance by demonstrating outside the senator’s Hartford office, among other things.
Seth Pomeroy Holcombe and Lucy Eaton Holcombe were longtime residents of North Granby. Both were active in their community, enthusiastically supporting the culture and history of the town they loved. Seth and Lucy served on many boards and committees, and shared a passion for Morgan horses, giving a home to many horses over the years and founding the Granby Horse Council. To continue their lifetime of giving back, the Holcombes established the Pomeroy-Brace Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to support organizations serving the residents of Granby.

At this time of year most people have filed their income taxes and may be reviewing their personal finances to plan for next year. Similarly, the town’s elected boards and my staff have just completed the FY22-23 budget process. The input and questions posed by residents attending the Board of Finance Public Hearing in April was appreciated.
At the Lincoln Dinner held recently in Windsor Locks, B. Scott Kuhnly was honored as Granby’s Republican of the Year. Kuhnly was recognized for all his service to Granby over the past 29 years in elected, appointed and volunteer positions.
