Granby’s Got Talent 2020 set for April 4

The Granby Memorial High School Athletic Booster Club will host its second annual Granby’s Got Talent (GGT) competition on Saturday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the GMHS auditorium. The entire Granby community, as well as students from Hartland and Hartford, are welcome to attend and participate in the talent show.

The skinny on bobcats in Connecticut

Ginny Apple, a Master Wildlife Conservationist and volunteer for the department of environmental protection, presented a very interesting program on bobcats in Connecticut at the Jan. 8 Women’s Breakfast held at the Senior Center.

GMHS Safe Grad event volunteers wanted

Entering 2020, the Granby Memorial High School Safe Grad Committee is busy preparing for a successful Safe Grad Night event for graduating seniors in June. But it can’t do it without the help of GMHS parents.

Granby student wins young poets competition

Nature’s Music, a poem by Noelle Tackett, daughter of David and Sarah Tackett, was selected by composer Ellen Gilson Voth to be set to music in a new piece commissioned by the Farmington Valley Chorale. To mark its 50th anniversary in 2020, the chorale looked to young poets for an original poem that explores a theme related to how music affects us or has an impact on our lives.

Kindergarten registration begins

There are new procedures for registering kindergarten students. Beginning Feb. 1, parents must pre-register their child for kindergarten on the Kelly Lane Primary School page of the Granby Schools website: Granby.k12.ct.us
