Planning for GMHS Safe Grad Night gears up

Planning for the Granby Memorial High School Class of 2020’s Safe Grad Night is well underway, as graduating seniors prepare to celebrate the end of their high school careers this June.

The Safe Grad Committee is in desperate need of parent volunteers for a variety of duties, in order to make the night a success for seniors.

Safe Grad Night is a free, fun-filled, substance-free all night event offered to GMHS graduates every year on the night of graduation at the Granby YMCA. This year, graduation and Safe Grad Night will take place on Tuesday, June 16.

The GMHS Safe Grad Committee is asking parents of underclassmen GMHS students to volunteer for the event, so that parents of seniors can enjoy graduation festivities with their families. For this reason, it is especially important for new volunteers to step up each year. Help is needed with food, room set up, decorations and chaperoning. There are also several tasks required in advance of the event, if a parent is able to help but isn’t available for the party itself.

The committee is planning several upcoming fundraisers for those interested in supporting the event. Another way to support Safe Grad is by surprising friends with a flock of pink flamingos roosting on their lawn for 48 hours. The flamingos will mysteriously migrate when it’s time to roost at another address. Anyone interested in flocking a friend can contact Sara Scotto at scottofamily@cox.net  The cost is $25.
