Gran-Bee is just around the corner

On Friday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m., all of Granby will be abuzz as the Granby Education Foundation (GEF) hosts the 17th Annual Gran-Bee Trivia Contest at the Granby Memorial High School auditorium.

The “Bee” is the most important fundraiser for GEF. Proceeds fund the Community Grants Program, which has supported more than 100 programs over the years as GEF serves as a vital funding partner for town nonprofits and local schools.

Teams of three people compete in “swarms” or rounds, with the winner of each swarm advancing to the final round. The winner takes home the coveted Bee Trophy along with the top prize of six-month memberships to the YMCA. Teams are encouraged to dress in theme or costume.

GEF appreciates early event sponsors and supporters such as Farmington Valley YMCA, Fredo Landscaping and Lost Acres Orchard. Would you like to “bee” part of the fun? Grab a friend (or two) and form a team for $100 (after March 24, registration increases to $150). Local businesses, civic organizations or individuals can still sponsor a team or sponsor the event itself. Team registration and sponsorship information can be found at GranbyEducationFoundation.org.

We hope you will join GEF for this unique Granby tradition. Pack the auditorium and cheer for your favorite team! Admission is free but donations are always welcome.

The GEF is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and entirely staffed by volunteers. Working together, the GEF will continue to enrich our community with quality arts and education programming for Granby residents of all ages.
