As the temperature gradually rose and countless buds sprang into action, students and staff across the Granby Public Schools eagerly awaited the conclusion of the 2022/23 school year.
The Granby Memorial Drama Club had a wonderful year, from the fall production of Daughters of the Appalachians to the fantastic musical production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Cheri Burke was introduced as Granby’s new superintendent of schools in the June issue of the Drummer
Granby’s outdoor track season ended in mid-June when Rohman Knutson and Cal Olsen competed in the CIAC decathlon on June 13.
Granby’s own G-4s 4-H Robotics team attended the world’s largest robotics competition and brought home an award. Over 13,000 teams from more than 50 countries competed to earn one of 1,000 invitations to the 16th annual VEX Robotics World Championship held in Dallas in April.
With the school year almost over, we still have many concerts, award programs, dance/prom, and other exciting events to culminate an incredible school year.
An expectant, excited crowd gathered in the Granby Board of Education’s meeting room on the evening of May 9 to welcome the town’s new superintendent of schools, Cheri P. Burke. Burke will assume the role on July 1.
The Granby Conservation Commission contacted assistant superintendent Jenn Parsons about starting a composting program in the school district to help Granby move closer to being a Connecticut Sustainable Town. When Kelly Lane literacy coach Elisabeth Diemer heard about the initiative, she was very interested.
