The coronavirus has ushered in a unique opportunity for Granby residents—preserving memory of the COVID-19 pandemic experience for future generations. The Salmon Brook Historical Society and the Granby Public Library are working together to gather stories about how the pandemic has affected life.

Girl Scouts keep kids creative

Girl Scout Cadettes is offering a way to keep kids happy, engaged and creative this summer. The idea came to the cadettes during quarantine as school, athletics and all other in-person activities were halted.

Dave Roberts elected to Lions position

Members of Hartford and Litchfield Counties’ 53 Lions Clubs International clubs, which are the world’s largest service organization, recently elected West Granby resident Dave Roberts to be the next Second Vice District Governor.

Mary Fay endorsed as GOP Congressional candidate

On May 20, at the first-ever Republican virtual convention, Mary Fay earned the nomination to run for U.S. Congress in Connecticut’s first district, challenging John Larson. Fay garnered 59 percent of the 153 Republican delegates to win the nomination of her party.

Second half of 2020—what now?

As we walk tentatively into the summer months, we are faced with the great desire to go back to normal as well as hesitation to trust that all is well. Cautious optimism seems to be the healthiest way to move forward, always with an eye and ear to new developments.

Acting Principal named for Kelly Lane Primary School

On June 10, Dr. Jordan Grossman advised Granby parents that Mrs. Sue Henneberry has been appointed to serve as the Acting Principal for Kelly Lane Primary School during the months of July and August. Currently, Henneberry serves as the Principal for Granby Memorial Middle School and is retiring effective June 30.
