Salmon Brook music series to host Mark Erelli

Folk singer and composer Mark Erelli returns to the Salmon Brook Music Series on Saturday, June 9. Since his first album (Signature Sounds) in 1999, his rigorous touring schedule has included the major folk festivals at Newport and Philadelphia.

Honor Granby educators, students, and community members

The Granby Education Foundation invites you to honor exemplary students, innovative educators, and appreciated community members who have made a difference in education in the town of Granby by participating in the GEF’s tribute program. While the tribute program runs year-round, it makes a particularly appropriate end-of-school year gift to recognize a student’s achievements, thank community volunteers and acknowledge inspiring educators both within the school system and throughout the area.

Granby residents receive volunteers of the year award

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) presented its highest accolades to Granby residents Tim and Deb Lenihan at its Annual Volunteer Awards Reception in March. The Lenihans were chosen to receive the Volunteer of the Year Award because of their unwavering dedication to raising funds to help accelerate cystic fibrosis (CF) research.

Stop & Shop donates to Granby food bank

Stop & Shop of Granby recently presented a check to Farmington Valley Visiting Nurse Association in support of the Granby Food Bank. Stop & Shop cashiers often ask customers if they would like to donate to various causes, and the food bank is one of the fortunate recipients.

Salmon Brook Historical Society holds second antique car show

The Salmon Brook Historical Society is holding its second car show on June 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many of the cars featured will be prewar era cars such as Ford Model Ts and Model As. Other cars that will be shown include a 1950 Chevy Delux Convertible, a 1967 Mustang, a 1921 Reo Fire Truck, and other antique vehicles.

Garden tour of Granby is June 16

Would you like to spend a day walking through some of Granby’s best commercial and private gardens? Now is your chance as the Salmon Brook Historical Society is sponsoring a Granby Garden Tour on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It starts at 9:30 a.m. at the historical society on Salmon Brook Street where you can grab a cup of coffee, tour the downstairs of the Rowe and Enders houses, and take a look at the Colonial Herb Garden.
