Granby declares the 4th of July a day to celebrate
Friday, July 3: The Decker Bandits will perform 6–8 p.m. at the Salmon Brook Park Bandshell, followed by a bonfire 8–9 p.m.

In light of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) recent update on heart attack and stroke statistics, the Granby Ambulance Association is announcing the Summer of Heart Health program to educate the community on risk factors that may lead to a cardiac event and how to respond if someone seems to be in distress.
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA), along with Hartford HealthCare, are encouraging Connecticut residents to help end stroke, the state’s fourth leading cause of death. Despite claiming more than 133,000 lives annually in the United States and an average of 1,300 deaths a year in Connecticut, as many as 80 percent of strokes remain preventable.

The seventh season of the Bruce Porter Memorial Music Series will open on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. with an exciting concert by saxophonist Tony Gibbs and pianist Benita Rose appearing as The Rose-Gibbs Duo.
The Granby Horse Council spread the word on June 9 about the importance of road safety for everyone, with an emphasis on horseback riding.
At the May 10 Board of Selectmen meeting, Town Manager John Ward recapped the history of the Requests for Proposals on 107 East Street, noting that the information gathering stages were complete. At this time, the board could accept the Hayes proposal, in which case a series of steps pursuant to the Granby town charter and to state law would follow, or it could reject the proposal, or take no action.
On April 29, at the 77th annual Gold Key Dinner hosted by the Connecticut Sportswriters’ Alliance, legendary Granby field hockey coach Dot Johnson was honored with a prestigious Gold Key Award. She knew she was going to be honored.
Granby’s annual Memorial Day parade and program will be held on Monday, May 28. The honorary parade marshal this year is William B. Moody, Col.
