GRANBY BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES MARCH 2, 2020

Conservation Commission member Kent McCord, 135 Hungary Road, addressed the board with information on the Explore Granby Scavenger Hunt. This an event where residents hike to specific landmarks, take selfie photos at each of the five locations and submit the photos to the Conservation Commission after all locations have been visited.

SBP Park House great for gatherings

The Gathering Room is a great place to get everyone together.  Granby Recreation and Leisure Services is not just for youth sports. In the last year, we have rented the Gathering Room at Salmon Brook Park for two graduation parties and a birthday party.

Please Note: although Food Bank is closed until further notice we have a system to provide goods for “urgent needs” so donations are still needed.

Fat budget needs a diet

As with any family, a budget sometimes needs to be amended based on internal or external fiscal factors. I would like to challenge each of the departments to consider a reduction of two percent to their budgets not by simply trying to meet the current plus-2 percent budget-increase target.

PLANNING & ZONING MINUTES FEB. 25, 2020

Kate Bogli, 198R Salmon Brook Street, addressed the commission regarding the draft agritourism zoning regulation, noting the importance of supporting and helping farmers and not adding more paperwork and fees for farmers. Virginia Wutka, 130 Lost Acres Road, asked the commission what the impetus is for the proposed changes.

Stop & Shop’s gold medalist

Dan Skinner (left), a long-time employee at Granby’s Stop & Shop, is congratulated by store manager Angel Cruz for the medals he won in the Connecticut Winter Special Olympics. Skinner won a gold and two silver medals.
