Public budget workshops are over, and the mill rate looks like it will be kept to zero again, pending any last-minute surprises. Read details on the town website (granby-ct.gov) where the “budget book” should be posted under Public Documents by April 1.
Beginning on Monday, April 5, patrons will be able to browse in the Adult and Teen areas of the library without an appointment.
The Friends of Granby Public Library (FOGPL) will begin accepting donations on June 1, so please start to set aside your donations for the big book sale event that will be held Sept. 24 – 26 at Holcomb Farm.
Several residents raised an objection to an application that will be the subject of a public hearing at a future meeting. Chapple explained the commission will not be receiving comments and the opportunity for public comment is during the public hearing for the application.
Household Hazardous Waste: Granby will once again work with local towns to host hazardous waste collections this year. The first collection will be Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 10 Monteith Drive, Farmington.
The Fiscal Year 22 budget proposals from the Board of Selectmen and Board of Education have been forwarded to the Board of Finance. On Monday, March 29, the finance board will review them, ask questions of the two boards and administrations and then finalize a unified budget package to present to the Budget Public Hearing on Monday, April 12 as designated in the town charter.
At its February meeting, the Board of Finance set guidelines for FY22 operating budgets that freeze the mill rate at the same level as it has been for the past two years. The action reflects the ongoing impact of the pandemic.
The Friends of Granby Public Library (FOGPL) raises the majority of its funds through the annual book sale that usually takes place in September. Unfortunately, the 2020 book sale was canceled—but we are determined to hold the book sale in 2021.
