Dave Roberts of West Granby has been elected to the National Council of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) as the regional representative for New England.
As we enter December and the holiday season, a lot is going on at Town Hall. For instance, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the annual Tree Lighting to bring in the season will be held outside of the library at 4:30 p.m.
On November 17, the newly-elected town officials were sworn in following a ceremony that included the presentation of colors by the American Legion Honor Guard and a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance by Granby Public School students.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was signed into law in March 2021. It allocated almost $2 trillion for Covid relief and economic recovery. Granby’s share of this money was $3,405,503, which had to be officially allocated for specific projects by the end of 2024, and be spent by Dec. 31, 2026.
An 11-member committee appointed by the planning and zoning commission is working on updating the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development, more commonly referred to as the “POCD.” The POCD is a guiding document used by town government and the public, that outlines policies, goals and standards for the physical and economic development of the town.
Madeleine Ayotte and Zainab Zafar are the 2025-26 student representatives to the board of selectmen. They are well-rounded in their school and personal lives and are enthusiastic reporters of all things going on at Granby Memorial High School. They’re also not hesitant to ask questions or offer opinions when asked to do so.

The Quarry Road Bridge will be under construction starting on Monday, Nov. 3. The road will be shut down heading southbound from Phelps Road starting Wednesday, Oct. 29 to begin staging of materials and equipment.

Trash Holiday: Please be aware that Thursday, Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving) is a holiday for USA Waste & Recycling. All Thursday and Friday trash and recycling pickups will be delayed by one day that week.
