Following months of planning and fundraising efforts, the Marquis of Granby Junior Ancient Fyfe and Drum Corps traveled to Scotland this summer. Everyone had a great time.
In early July a group of young puppeteers gathered at Lost Acres Orchard to beat the heat with penguins. Guided by Granby’s uniquely talented, always energetic Audrey Laird, the children each built icebergs from cardboard, paint, and tissue paper, and crafted a personal, highly decorated penguin puppet to use in a performance for family and friends.
It’s a question we are all faced with daily. Whether the choice is what to make or what restaurant to go to, we all have to answer this question 365 nights a year!
The Granby Artists Association has been through its share of changes in the past 17 years and is excited to be shifting its approach to fostering the visual arts. Over the years, with the enthusiastic support of the Granby community, members of Granby Artists have taught and demonstrated, while hosting family art days, community art projects, exhibits, holiday gift shows, and 16 open studio tours.
The Marquis of Granby Ancient Junior Fyfe and Drum Corps has a very busy summer planned. The kids have already performed in several parades and community events since the arrival of warm weather.
In the park the roses bloom with their colors of red, pink, yellow, white, and lavender. I stop to take in their sweet fragrance.
Students of the Windy Hill Guitar Studio of Granby will present a program of classical guitar solo and ensemble-repertoire at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, at the East Granby Public Library, 24 Center Street, East Granby. The performance is free and open to the public but registration is recommended.
The Granby Public Library is featuring the 12th annual Granby Camera Club photo exhibit from June 1 to 28. The club was founded 24 years ago to pursue photography as an art form and welcomes all who share a passion to learn, create and enjoy the beauty of photography.
Marquis of Granby wants to thank everyone who contributed to its fundraiser held at the Thomas Hooker Brewery on March 9. The event was a huge success, with 100 percent of proceeds going to help members of the corps get to Scotland this August.
