Girl Scout Troop 66007 of Granby has earned the Bronze Award, the highest award that Girl Scout Juniors (grades 4-5) can earn. To earn the award, the troop split into two groups and worked on different projects.
About 25 people turned out at the Emery Farm Sugar House on March 18 for a hands-on demonstration of how maple syrup is made. Granby Land Trust Board Member Dave Emery taught his visitors, many of whom were fewer than three feet tall, about the process of sugaring, from sap collection, to boiling, to the filtering and bottling of the finished product. Everyone was invited to taste some Emery Farm maple syrup—served, deliciously, over snow!

When Lucy Holcombe passed away in January of 2016, she left her beloved, 150-acre property on Silver Street in North Granby, to the Granby Land Trust. Lucy and her husband, Seth, were longtime, loyal and generous GLT supporters and friends.
I fish a lot, sometimes alone, sometimes with my kids or friends. Sometimes in local bass tournaments, I’ve traveled great distances to fish, working to fulfill my dream of fishing in every state with my son.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company donated a fire truck playscape to the town’s Rotary Park. The truck is Engine 75, recognizing the 75th anniversary of the fire company’s founding in 1944.
The Playstrong Group LLC from Simsbury held a welcoming warm up class for the Special Olympics athletes as they took on competition at the International Skating Center. Athletes enjoyed fun warm up and stretching exercises before their competitions in figure skating and speed skating at the rink.
