Soon, the sounds of Little League baseball will be with us again. The infield on my team would chant in chorus, “Hey, batter, batter, batter, swing! Hey, batter, batter, batter, swing!” We were trying to entice the batter to swing at a bad pitch and get out. Granby Little League is about to begin its 73rd season, and that brings back fond memories of when I played.
I always like to stop and smell the flowers, and I also pet moss. The texture provides a soothing tactile experience. Gazing at an expanse of moss-covered ground is calming as well—an emerald carpet so deeply green you might think of Ireland. Or, somewhat closer to home, the Hoh Rain Forest in the Pacific Northwest.
Since 1973, Stony Hill Village has housed our neighbors. The residents of Stony Hill Village enjoy the convenience of living in the center of Granby, coupled with the privacy of their New England village-like cluster of homes set on a gentle slope leading from Salmon Brook Street up towards Granby’s public building complex.
Shannon-Shattuck Post 182 completed a significant modernization of its kitchen thanks to a grant from the Granby Community Fund at Greater Hartford Gives. Post 182’s project brings the post’s kitchen up to current fire, safety and health standards—strengthening its ability to serve veterans, first responders and the community throughout the year.
