Granby Bible Study
Join us for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness on Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. at the Town Hall Meeting Room. In the spirit of our country’s 250th anniversary, this free program will discuss perspectives on Thomas Jefferson, the pursuit of happiness, his role in the First Amendment, the separation of church and state, and even explore the question, “What would Jefferson do if here today?”

Pasta Dinner
The Granby UNICO is hosting its annual pasta dinner fundraiser on Sunday, May 17, 4–7 p.m. at Holcomb Farm in West Granby. Fundraiser to benefit colon cancer. Women’s Breakfast
The Women’s Breakfast Group will meet on Wednesday, May 6. The speaker will be Sandra Cody, media professional and author, who will discuss her book Around Every Corner of Connecticut in which she shares her adventures in the region.
Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m. with the program following at 9 a.m. Cost remains $5. It is necessary to register in advance by calling 860-844-5352 or register on the Granby Senior Center website.
Camera Club
The Granby Camera Club will meet on Monday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at the Granby Senior Center. The program for the evening will be macro photography and focus stacking. The scavenger hunt words are: macro, spring and favorite.
Men’s Breakfast
On Friday, May 8, hear Paul and Stacey Konopaske talk about hiking the El Camino de Santiago, a network of ancient pilgrimage routes. It will be fascinating. Breakfast is at 8:30 a.m., with the program at 9 a.m. Register for the breakfast by calling the Granby Senior Center at 860-844-5350. Your early registration significantly helps us plan for food and seating. The cost remains just $5.
Civic Club
The Granby Civic Club will meet on Thursday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center. The speaker will be one of our own members, Cynthia Tillotson, who will share with us some of her summer experiences as the manager of the Fisher Island Beach Club. For 21 summers, Tillotson’s responsibility was to manage the food, beverages, dining and other activities for about 500 families—2,000 to 3,000 people. Refreshments will be served at the meeting. Guests are always welcome.
SBHS News
The Research Library in the Preservation Barn is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.–noon or by appointment by calling 860-653-9713. Research fee $25 per hour.
The Museum Store has a great assortment of Granby items. Located in the Enders House, the store is open Thursdays, 9 a.m.–noon. Purchases may be made on Tuesdays, 9 a.m.–noon, at the Preservation Barn.
Spring Flea Market: Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on the society’s grounds. Market spaces (20×20 ft.) are $40 if reserved by May 9, $50 if reserved after May 9. Contact Todd Vibert at 860-307-6171 to reserve your space. Flea Market donations to the Society can be dropped off any Tuesday or Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon through May 12.
Weekly Summer House Tours on the main campus will be open 2–4 p.m. on the following Sundays: June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23, Sept. 13, and Sept. 27. Tours include the Weed-Enders House c. 1790, Abijah Rowe House c. 1732, Colton-Hayes Tobacco Barn 1914 and Cooley School c. 1870. Admission fees are Adults $5, Children and Seniors $2, Family maximum $12 and members are always free.
In conjunction with the main campus tours, the Shattuck Collection will be open 2–4 p.m. on the following Sundays: June 28, July 26, Aug. 23 and Sept. 27.
The Wilcox House, located at 143 Simsbury Road will be open for tours 10 a.m.–noon on the following Saturdays: June 13, July 11 and Aug. 22. These tours are free and open to the public.
