Granby Civic Club

After a two-month winter break, the Granby Civic Club will meet on Thursday, March 15, 1 p.m. in the Senior Center. A local resident will share the Granby history of the retired gentlemen’s sport of Foxhound hunting.

New men’s baseball team in Granby

The Granby Cubs are a new wood bat baseball team for ages 25 and older starting play in the Connecticut Men’s Senior Baseball North League. The team will play double headers on Sundays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. starting April 15.

Granby Democrats host candidate forum for 62nd house district March 6

Two candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for the 62nd House District will appear together on Tuesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the Granby Town Hall Meeting Room to address interested voters and answer questions. Amanda Webster and Valerie Eastwood, both of Granby, have been campaigning throughout the district for months, talking with individual voters, groups and town committees.

Rep. Simanski Volunteers for Read Aloud Day

State Representative Bill Simanski (R-62) participated in the 27th Annual Read Aloud Day. This annual event helps teachers promote childhood literacy and a lifelong love of reading by having volunteers from the community join classes in the morning to read a book for the class.

If you have been to any of the Granby Artist Association arts and crafts shows during the holiday season or enjoyed visiting the artists’ studios on Open Studio Day in the fall, you have probably noticed the exquisite glasswork done by Silver Street Glass. Pieces of all different sizes, textures and colors capture the eye: wall hangings, paperweights, jewelry, Christmas tree ornaments, vases, bowls, to name a few.
