New Grange officers installed

On Oct. 8, Connecticut State Grange Chief Deputy Peter Keefe and his Winchester Grange Installation Team visited Granby Grange to install the newly elected 2023-24 Granby Grange Officers. 

Canine dementia explained

As our canine companions age, they may start to show signs of dementia not all that different from the signs of dementia seen in aging people. Canine Cognitive Dysfunction, or CCD, is the dog’s version of Alzheimer’s disease.

Transfer Station hours: The transfer station will be open Wednesday mornings (8 a.m. to noon) through Nov. 15. The transfer station will be open on Saturday, Nov. 11.

2017 Memorial Day activities

The Granby Memorial Day parade will be held Monday, May 29. The honorary parade marshall will be Gilbert F. Justo who served with the U.S. Army 101 Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. The parade will line up at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot on Bank Street and step off at 10 a.m. sharp. Stops will be made to lay wreaths at the Civil War, War on Terror, Legion and World War I monuments before continuing to the cemetery. Dr. Kirby C. Stafford III, Chief Scientist and State Entomologist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, will give a “tick talk” on Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. in the North Barn at Holcomb Farm. Virginia rail highlights GLT bird walks

Led by John Weeks and Christine Chinni, the walks have become a springtime tradition in town.This year the sky was overcast for the May 13 walk, but the rain held off. Creative Makers at Wells Road

Wells Road students were excited to participate in Simsbury Public Library’s Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, April 1. No Fooling! The newly formed MakerSpace Club accepted the challenge to design and create marble runs out of cardboard, water bottles, popsicle sticks and other common materials, and demonstrated them at a booth at the Faire. A new fine arts scholarship for GMHS graduates will be offered for the class of 2018. Granby resident Susan Patricelli-Regan is establishing the scholarship in her mother’s name.Sylvia Davis Patricelli was a young and well-known portrait painter in Sydney, Australia, who had attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
