Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, donations were made to the Granby Education Foundation (GEF) in honor of the teachers, administrators, parents, and students shown below. As part of the GEF’s mission is to encourage educational excellence, the Foundation is thrilled to recognize the efforts of these individuals.

The Granby chapter of UNICO awarded four college scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating seniors from Granby.
Eight youths from Granby 4-H along with one leader, Rachael Manzer, successfully launched three experiments into space on a NASA rocket. The three experiments included “Bees in Space” that launched honeycombs, “Rubber Bands in Space,” and “Gallium in Space,” all of which were proposed by 4-Hers themselves.
The summer flew by and school started a week earlier this year, breaking the tradition of starting after Labor Day. By the time this article is published, teachers will have returned to work and received professional development training and students will have already had a week of classes.
A free seminar on paying for college will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Gathering Room at the Recreation Center in Salmon Brook Park.
This year the Granby Chamber of Commerce has awarded three scholarships to 2018 high school graduates. The recipients were Aaron Belletsky, Northwest Catholic High School, who will be attending the University of Connecticut, Ethan Schock, Granby Memorial High School, who will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Simon O’Neil, Granby Memorial High School, who will be attending the University of Hartford.
Meaghan Leonardi, a 2018 graduate of Granby Memorial High School, won the first annual 2018 Sylvia Davis Patricelli Fine Arts Award Scholarship.
