As the second semester has begun and shades of spring become increasingly apparent, events at Granby Memorial High School are beginning to signify a shift in the yearly calendar as well. GMHS’ vast assortment of student clubs, activities, and athletic teams have all devoted countless hours to perfecting their craft in anticipation of the busy, competitive March which awaits them.
I want to thank the entire Granby community for supporting us this year as we celebrate our 100th day of school; over half the school year is complete. Students in the Granby Public Schools continue to excel and the staff continues to work tirelessly to assist our students achieve their highest academic potential and social/emotional development.

At its Feb. 1, 2023, meeting, the Granby Board of Education (BOE) appointed itself as the Personnel Search Committee for the new Superintendent of the Granby Public Schools. The committee’s work will be guided by a search consultant and will begin immediately.
The Granby Horse Council Scholarship Committee is accepting applications for its 2023 scholarship. The $500 award goes to a senior student enrolled in their current high school program. Membership in Granby Horse Council is not required.
Granby’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jordan Grossman has been appointed the new superintendent for the Canton Public Schools, and will begin there over the summer.
On the evening of January 19, Granby residents gathered in the newly renovated cafeteria at Granby Memorial High School to celebrate the completion of recent school building projects.
During December and January we welcomed the community into the Granby Memorial High School auditorium for high school and middle school band and choral concerts. We are extremely proud of our students and staff for their outstanding performances. The music programs in our schools truly have a tremendous impact on students’ growth and development.
Beginning this quarter, the talent at GMHS will be hitting their “marks” and studying their “sides”, while the “grips” “check the gate” and give “last looks” before calling “action” in the new TV production studio.
