Highlights from the meeting held on October 12th, 2022
Congratulations to the Granby Rovers U15 Girls team for winning its division at the Capitol Cup Tournament in Concord, N.H. on Oct. 8-9. This was the team’s first tournament out of state since 2019, and everyone was excited to play against new teams and have some fun.
Every fall, the Granby Board of Selectmen appoints a student representative from Granby Memorial High School to attend meetings and give updates on the happenings at the school. This year, that representative is junior Chas Orluk.
For years, the eighth grade Washington, D.C. trip was a rite of passage for Granby Memorial Middle School students. For many, it was the first time away from home and the first time visiting our nation’s capital. Many alumni have fond memories of trips to Washington, D.C, and still have the souvenir picture that each student received of their class on the U.S. Capitol steps.
I thank the community for supporting the opening of schools on August 30. I have visited all the schools several times and it is good to see students and staff back in the buildings, engaged and settling into routines.
As the temperatures gradually dropped and hinted at the pending arrival of a welcomed New England autumn, another new season arrived as well: the 2022-23 school year.
