Sometimes, when you have friends like mine, the stories write themselves. What follows is a series of actual texts between a group of my closest fishing buddies.
“You catching anything?”
I have been watching the man and his boat for a while now, so I know he hasn’t had much luck. But I’m out of hooks and bait, and I don’t have the courage to just ask him if he has any to spare.
“Can you get me an appointment with the doctor? Like, as soon as possible.”
It’s a guy thing. We turn everything into a no-holds-barred, winner-take-all affair.
Twas two weeks before Christmas, and all ‘cross the lake, nothing was happening, not a single wake.
I’m going to cheat a little bit here. I’m not sure I can do it justice, so please stop reading and look at the picture captioned “Soccer dads, together again.”
As we drove towards Pyramid Lake, I said to Dan, “Too bad we didn’t start earlier. I’ve heard that the lake’s rock formations, especially the iconic Pyramid Rock, are breathtaking right at dawn and again as the sun goes down.”
