The Expressions Pottery Workshop and the Friend to Friend Food Pantry have partnered for the 25th annual Empty Bowls event on Saturday, Oct. 4. Held at the East Granby Community/Senior Center, 7 Memorial Drive, attendees are welcomed between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to select a hand-potted bowl, then enjoy the festivities.
The Granby–Simsbury Chamber of Commerce and the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center co-host a frightfully fun afternoon at the Spooktacular Boos and Brews on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1 to 5 p.m. at the Simsbury Meadows Performing Arts Center.
The 1975 graduating class of Granby Memorial High School is pleased to announce its 50th reunion, starting with an informal gathering Friday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cambridge House in Granby.
On Oct. 26, 34 dancers from Nutmeg’s Dance and Theatre Co. will take the stage at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., performing for audiences from all over the globe.

The Stop & Shop grocery store in Granby has selected the Citizens for a Better Granby (publishers of the Drummer) to receive a portion of the sales of its Community Bags during September. The $2.50 reusable bags both benefit the environment by reducing the use of paper and plastic bags and yield a $1 donation to CBG. That sounds like a WIN-WIN to us!
The Farmington Valley Quilters Guild will present From Fabric to Fabulous on Sept. 20 and 21 at the Kingswood Oxford School’s Hoffman Field House on Trout Brook Drive in West Hartford.
By the time you read this, Chris Fisher’s photography exhibit at Lost Acres Vineyard will probably be closed, so you will have to go to the libraries in East Granby (September), Simsbury (October) or Avon (November) to experience it, but it will be well worth the drive. He started taking pictures on a seven-week summer Eurail trip in 1971 and hasn’t stopped since!
The Carroll Sisters Trio is set to release its much-anticipated second album, Radiance, as part of Granby’s beloved Salmon Brook Music Series on Sunday, Sept. 28, 4 p.m. at the Granby Congregational Church.
