What do you like about Granby?

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is conducting a “listening tour” of its 29 regions to better understand its constituency. The foundation is coming to Granby on Tuesday, March 20, 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Women’s Breakfast

On Wednesday, March 7, the Tainted Beauty Studio with Angela Cortez returns for a program entitled The Expressive Beauty Bunch for the Granby Women’s Breakfast program. Breakfast at the Granby Senior Center starts at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $4.

Granby, Simsbury and East Granby’s Tri-Town Democratic Campaign Forum

On behalf of the Democratic Town Committees of Granby, Simsbury and East Granby, a joint invitation is extended to attend a Tri-Town Candidate Forum to be held Sunday, March 18, from 3-5 p.m. at Holcomb Farm North Pavilion in West Granby. Seven Democratic candidates for Governor have agreed to participate, as well as several candidates for Attorney General, Secretary of State and Treasurer.

Volunteers Needed

Mary’s Kitty Korner, a no-kill cat shelter in Granby Center, is looking for volunteers to help care for its kitties until they find their “fur-ever” homes. If you love cats and have some time to spare on a weekday morning or evening or on a weekend morning or afternoon the shelter would love to hear from you.

New England Air Museum events

Women Take Flight
The New England Air Museum will hold its annual Women Take Flight event on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in commemoration of Women’s History Month. Visitors of all ages are invited to celebrate women’s contributions to aerospace history through special events, hands-on activities and lectures from special guest speakers including Catherine Young, business developer, General Aviation Airports, Connecticut Airport Authority; Melissa Mathiasen, test pilot, Sikorsky Aircraft; and MSgt.

Granby Civic Club

After a two-month winter break, the Granby Civic Club will meet on Thursday, March 15, 1 p.m. in the Senior Center. A local resident will share the Granby history of the retired gentlemen’s sport of Foxhound hunting.

Corned Beef Dinner

Copper Hill United Methodist Church is hosting a corned beef dinner with home baked desserts on Saturday, March 10. There will be a single sitting at 5 p.m. Adults, $12; under 12, $6, and pre-schoolers are no-charge.

Land Trust announces spring events

Spring is just around the corner and the members of the Granby Land Trust Board of Directors are ready to get outside. Members hope you will join them on some GLT properties to enjoy fresh air, exercise, connecting with each other, and learning more about the incredible natural world around us.

Maple sugaring demonstration for kids

On Sunday, March 18, at 1 p.m., join Granby Land Trust Board Member Extraordinaire Dave Emery of Emery Farm for a hands-on demonstration of how maple sugar is made. Farmer Dave will follow an abbreviated process of sap collection, then transport through to boiling, filtering and bottling of the finished product. Each child should be accompanied by an adult and be prepared to taste some delicious Emery Farm maple syrup.
