The Salmon Brook Historical Society’s annual Spring Flea Market will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 40 to 50 vendors showing and selling their wares. Admission and parking is free to the public.
McLean will sponsor a document shredding event for the community Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the front parking lot of their facility at 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury.
The Granby Horse Council will again sponsor the annual Blessing of the Mounts at the West Granby Methodist Church. The Blessing will take place behind the church at 87 Simsbury Road West Granby, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28.

Granby history comes alive at the April Lunch for the Mind program as attendees learn about some of Granby’s more colorful residents and their historical houses. Join the Civic Engagement Education Team at the Granby Senior Center on Wednesday, April 18, at 12:30 p.m. as Carol Laun, Archivist at the Salmon Brook Historical Society presents Touring The Street, as Salmon Brook Street was referred to by residents in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The Farmington Valley Trails Council will hold its 9th annual Trail-wide Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Rain date is Sunday, April 15). Last year’s event drew more than 200 volunteers at six staging areas across eight Farmington Valley towns that encompass the estimated 22.4 (and growing) miles of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and the 10.2 miles of the Farmington River Trail.
The youth at Pilgrim Covenant Church will host a Swedish Pancake Breakfast and Scandinavian Bake Sale on Saturday, March 3, 8 to 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Covenant Church, 605 Salmon Brook St., just before the Massachusetts state line. This is a donation-breakfast benefiting the youth groups.
Known for its performances in parades locally as well as across the northeast, this August the Marquis will embark on an international trip to Scotland. This experience will allow the members of the corps to continue to learn about music, history and culture while sharing their award-winning talents internationally from multiple opportunities to jam with Scottish musical reenactment groups, to having the honor of performing at the International Fringe Festival while in Edinburgh. They will learn about Scottish culture, including musical traditions, historical foundations, and modern lifestyle as well as perform with musicians from around the world.
On Wednesday, March 7, the Tainted Beauty Studio with Angela Cortez returns for a program entitled The Expressive Beauty Bunch for the Granby Women’s Breakfast program. Breakfast at the Granby Senior Center starts at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $4.
