Eco-Friendly Lawn Care: Thursday, April 5, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Learn best practices for maintaining and improving your lawn while protecting nearby streams and waterways. Join Aimee Petras, Farmington River Watershed Association, as she covers timely lawn care topics, including – soil testing, irrigation, aeration, reseeding, and mowing. Registration recommended.

The Zoo in Forest Park Comes to Granby: Wednesday, April 11, 6:30 – 7 p.m. at Granby Public Library; Thursday, April 12, 2 – 2:30 p.m. at Cossitt Library; Have you ever seen an armadillo up close? How about a parrot or chinchilla? These animals and others will visit the Granby Libraries during school vacation week. Register early; space is limited to 30 attendees at each event. Please note that caregivers must remain with children under 7 years.

Boot Camp for Your Senses with Author Tovah Martin: Wednesday, April 18, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m; Tovah Martin, one of the greatest garden writers of our time, teaches us to look closer, breathe deeper and listen harder to truly savor our favorite outdoor spaces. Arrive early and enjoy a fragrant ‘smell-abration,’ then stay after the talk for an author book signing. Registration recommended.

Culinary Knife Making with Bradford McDougall: Saturday, April 21, 2 – 3 p.m. on the Reading Terrace; Snow date, Saturday, April 28. Meet Brad McDougall, fresh off his recent History Channel appearance on the wildly popular Forged in Fire series, and watch as he puts anvil and forge to use in an outdoor talk and demonstration of culinary knife making. It’s art, science, and entertainment! All ages welcome. Registration recommended.

Lyme Disease – What You Need to Know: Thursday, April 26, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates over 300,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme disease every year. Susan Gnesda leads a timely discussion about this prevalent disease and shares valuable information regarding diagnosis, treatment, and financial implications. Be informed to protect your health and that of your loved ones. Registration recommended.

Wee Ones Story Time, for age birth to 2 with caregiver; Thursdays: April 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. Board books, finger plays, songs and gentle movement for babies, crawlers and little walkers. No registration required. Drop-ins welcome.

Preschool Story Time, for age 3–5 with caregiver, Tuesdays: April 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers and a caregiver share stories, songs, finger plays and a craft with Miss Joan. No registration required. Drop-ins welcome.

Zumba, Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. Move it to music with instructor Amy Thompson. Join us for a fun-filled session for children ages 5-11. Preregistration is required, as space is limited to 12 participants.

Music Explorers, Mondays: April 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 10:30 a.m. Preschoolers are invited to sing, clap and dance with instructor Jessica Pietrosanti. Caregivers are encouraged to participate. Come and have fun! Please register in advance.

Kids Book Club: The Book Crusaders Thursdays: April 5 and 19 from 4-5 p.m. Second, third and fourth graders are invited to join our new Book Club! This month we’ll be reading a biography from the “Who Is/Who Was” series. Come share a review of your pick or listen to your friends. Caregivers are welcome to join in. Please register.

Craft Week Monday: Saturday, April 9 – 14 Drop in anytime during the week and create a fun project to take home. All materials supplied.

Family Movie Nights: Wednesdays: April 4, 18 and 25 beginning at 6 p.m. Drop in and enjoy a family-friendly film. We’ll even provide the popcorn! Call for details on movie titles. No registration needed. All ages welcome.

Do-Re-Mi Music for Little People: Thursday, April 6, 2–2:30 p.m. Miss Jessica leads songs, rhymes, and musical movement for preschoolers and their siblings. Registration recommended.

Cossitt Craft Days: April 5, 7, 10, 12 Kids and caregivers are invited to browse for books and movies, then make and take home a simple craft project in 10 minutes or less. No fee; no registration.

Writers Group: Tuesday, April 10 and 24, 6–7:45 p.m. The Cossitt Writers Group embraces writers of all genres. Sessions feature writing prompts, critiques, and readings. Work on your material with this friendly group every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
